Night Out

Last night was just what the doctor ordered.   When I was in my 20's I went to work 5 days a week and went out 6.  And I wouldn't change those nights (and early mornings)for the world.  Hell I was in my 20's and so was my waist line.  But as life evolved, clubs closed, people moved away and reality set in the luster of going out wore off.  For me going out is a process, first the right music to get dressed to, second put enough cologne on to leave a trail in the air, third go shopping in my closet and lastly change about 5 times before I leave the house.  This usually takes till about 11:30 (which is fine with me because I don't like getting to a club before midnight). Fun process but these days by 11:30 I have watched the HBO premier of the week and have settled into bed with a stack of varied reading material.   Well last night was a welcome and much needed break from the HBO movie of the week.  I got to hang out with my cousin Vette (for the first time) and my friend Amy.  I remember holding Vette when she came home from the hospital so to be in a club with her as a grown woman and have men looking at her was a unique experience.  I've known Amy since she was 16 and we worked together at a video store.  She has come a long way! We went to reopening of the Granby Theatre.  This club almost doesn't belong in Hampton Roads.  When you walk inside it reminds me of venues I've seen in magazines and on T.V.  I image the clubs in South Beach are like this.  All the staff is dressed impeccably in black, the men in buttoned up jackets and pants, the bartenders in nice shirts and tailored pants and the women just flawless.  This is one of those places where 98% of the staff is attractive and 100% are polite and courteous.  The music was ok.  After a while euro house/techno starts to sound the same.  I understand the music selection is key to maintaining an adult crowd but not playing Beyonce, Justin, Christina or even some older Janet and Madonna is questionable.  Simple rule, the more people dance they more they drink.  But all in all last night was a good night.  Getting home before 2 am is unusual and not smelling like a 3 day old ash tray is very unusual, oh yeah The Granby Theatre is a SMOKE FREE club!!!!!!!!!!  I wont be going out again anytime soon (unless theres a good reason or event) but last night was fun.  I had to post the pre going out pics, I'm rather pleased with the way they turned out.  As you can see I was feeling my inner ROCK STAR last night!  And to top it off Vette and I have our first adult pictures together and Amy I have new pictures together, there are old ones from the video store days but I'll save us both the embarrassment.
