Why Did I Get Married: Updated November 13, 2007
As most of you can tell I love movies. I get excited thinking about going to see a movie that I've been eagerly anticipating. Well I'm EXTRA excited about www.whydidigetmarriedthemovie.com Even though I've never been married and always bristled at the thought (I have softened in that area) I am excited about the question itself. The thing that excites me the most is movies like this aren't made that often and by like this I mean movies that show intelligent, attractive , successful, well spoken, wealthy, diverse black men and women from light brown to dark brown doing things that people aren't used to associating with black people. A friend of mine said tonight she was excited because the buzz reminded her of Waiting To Exhale and I couldn't agree more. The story centers around 4 couples who meet once a year at a cabin in the mountains. Things take a turn for the worse when one of the husbands brings another woman while leaving his wife to make her way to the cabin alone. It's not long before skeletons start to emerge and true feelings come out. Even though the most recognizable face to a broad audience is Janet Jackson there is a strong cast here that will hopefully get the exposure and name recognition they've so long deserved. Make an event out of this, ladies have a girls night out then see it again on date night with your husbands. If you're dating go with that special someone whoever you go see it with don't be afraid to ask what will be the loaded question of the fall "WHY DID I GET MARRIED"! Be sure to come back and post comments after you've seen the movie. Looking forward to the feedback.

If you havent seen this movie yet PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go see it. Not since Waiting To Exhale has a movie moved me this way. Whether youre in a relationship or not, married or not this movie speaks to everyone. It's not a "BLACK MOVIE" it a movie with a black cast. You will see yourself and several people you know and situations you've been through. Im going to catch it one more time it's a good reminder of what not to do or what not to do AGAIN!
And if for no other reason the dinner table scene is worth the price of admission. All I'll say is BOOM!

I am excited to see this movie, too. I am excited because I am a Janet Jackson fan. Oh, by the way, things are centered ON, not AROUND.
