90 Year Old Woman Attempts Suicide During Foreclosure
Earlier today I came across an article on CNN.com about Addie Polk, a 90 year old woman from Akron, Ohio who attempted to kill herself while being evicted from her home due to pending foreclosure. This shook me to my core because before completing the article I already knew how this happened. Immediately wondered how will the estimated 700 Million Dollar Bailout help people like Addie Polk? Are the financial institutions going to work with people in similar situations or are they going to take the bailout as a windfall or the opportunity to help correct their part of the mess the country is in now?
Fannie Mae has forgiven the loan and will return Ms. Polks home. While I'm happy that things have worked out for Ms. Polk I wonder about the thousands of people in the same situation. Will it take a pandemic of suicide attempts by foreclosed and forelorned homeowners for the government to responsibly react?
You can find the article at:

This is Joan Crawford in a still from Whatever Happened To Baby Jane, not Addie Polk.

You KNOW that Fannie Mae forgave the loan for good press when really they were thinking, "Why couldnt' that old bag aim better! I mean damn, 2 shots and she's still here... wtf!?"
