Whatever Happened To Coley and Jefferey
Recently Jeffery and I watched Whatever Happened To Baby Jane starring Bette Davis and Joan Crawford. If you're a regular reader of out blogs you know that Jefferey and I have an interesting friendship. While watching the movie Jeff commented that we were Blanche and Jane (Bette Davis and Joan Crawford's characters in the movie). Blanche and Jane are sisters that were once movie stars. Blanche is wheelchair bound from an accident that was supposedly caused by Jane. Since the accident Blanche and Jane have been living together and Blanche is totally dependent on Jane for care while Jane is dependant on Blanche for money. Theres a pivotal scene in the movie where Jane brings Blanche her lunch, when Blanche lifts the lid she finds her beloved parakeet, that Jane led her to believe had escaped earlier in the day while cleaning her cage. Later in the movie Blanche is starving but wont touch the second tray that Jane has brought her for fearing what Jane has on the menu for her. Eventually Blanche is overcome with hunger, removes the lid and finds a rat the size of a house cat. Blanche lets out a scream that is masked only by Jane laughing hysterically in the hallway outside Blanches door. After calming down a little Jeff remarks "Oh my God thats you and me!" and I had to laugh because it's partially true. By this point in the movie Jeff and I are laughing louder than Jane. Since moving in I banned Jeff from the kitchen and do all the cooking and Jeffs daily question is "whats for dinner?". Jane is blunt and makes no attempt to hide anything, what comes up come out (Bette Davis was exactly the same way). Blanche is very pleasant, soft spoken, polite, comes across as very kind is very like able, but don't be fooled because Blanche is just as much of a bitch as Jane is (Joan Crawford was exactly the same way). No one could have played these roles better than these two because they were playing themselves, two actresses whose careers were in the toilet with little chance of revival and needing the each other for survival. Well at this moment in time Jeff and I are Jane/Bette and Blanche/Joan with the rats and rivalry.
Jeffs prediction is that when were old we will be living together and I'll recite the iconic line "you arnt ever gunna sell this house and ya arnt gunna leave it EITHER!" If this is true lets hope there a no rats around.
I don't think anyone has to guess who's Jane/Bette and who's Blanche/Joan.

Joan Crawford led everyone to believe she was pure and innocent too, while she was "allegedly" screwing everyone in Hollywood.
