Rep. Joe Wilson Yells "You Lie" At President Obama
What happened tonight during PRESIDENT Obama's speech was wrong, uncalled for and most of all disrespectful. It wasn't just disrespectful to the President it was disrespectful to ALL Americans.
Rep. Joe Wilson felt so strongly about the illegal immigrants portion of President Obama's (where the President expressed in no uncertain terms that undocumented illegals WILL NOT BE COVERED by new health care programs) speech that he yelled "YOU LIE" at the President of The United States on the floor congress like he was a hockey game. He has every right to disagree with the President, but there was a better more professional and respectful way to do it. After the session, appearing on Larry King Live, Senator John McCain (R-Arizona) said, "Totally disrespectful. No place for it in that setting or any other and he should apologize immediately."
I'm not going as far into this as I normally would because there are few obvious things here. President Bush was never subject to such disrespect and many of us felt he lied about a few things. The bigger problem here is on a global scale. The United States sets the tone, we keep the bar raised for civility and allow these things to happen in other places. If we start yelling on the floor of congress like beer swilling drunken fools what next, fighting and shoe throwing?
Whether you support the Presidents plans or not we need to support and RESPECT the office, if we don't the rest of the world wont either.
I tried to get on Joe Wilsons web page but it's down and I doubt he took it down. So heres the next best thing: His Face book page: http://www.facebook.com/Jo eWilson?ref=nf
His number is (803) 939-0041 and fax (803) 939-0078, in D.C. it's (202) 225-2452 and his fax is (202) 225-2455. His inbox is full right now, what a shocker.
Pay attention to Nancy Pelosi's reaction, says it all.

After the speech, South Carolina Rep. Joe Wilson issued a statement apologizing for his outburst.
"This evening, I let my emotions get the best of me when listening to the president's remarks regarding the coverage of illegal immigrants in the health care bill," the statement said. "While I disagree with the president's statement, my comments were inappropriate and regrettable. I extend sincere apologies to the president for this lack of civility."
Wilson also called the White House to apologize and spoke with Obama's Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel.
